The great geographic variety and indigenous populations of Chile arouse great interest for those travelers who seek to know beautiful landscapes, constructions and customs of native peoples with practices of worship to Mother Earth and her ancestors as the great suppliers and protectors of life.

Tourism in Chile comes hand in hand with this new trend, more green and sustainable, that tries to protect the natural resources and the indigenous cultures from the growing world tourism. This new way of doing tourism has grown in the past years and has been awarded by several international organizations that promote traveling and respect for the environment.

Four destinations in Chile have made to the most recent list of the “Top 100 Sustainable Destination”, because of their biodiversity and respect for the environment.

When we go on vacation, we can always record images of landscapes that we visit close to the horizon line, therefore, we can only see a part of them. But, what would happen if we had the opportunity to see all the landscapes from another perspective, almost touch the waters of rivers and lakes, or go through the monument of La Portada in Antofagasta? This is possible now due to the “Chile with different eyes”, which seeks to show the country from different angles and also show unknown places. This is done with the aim of giving Chile’s identity a new depth.

The person responsible for this project is Ariel Marinkovic, photographer, journalist and director of X-Cam, an air services agency in charge of registering different photos and videos of different places for a number of clients. One day, Marinkovic began touring the country and filming his different landscapes from the heights using drones. The idea of the project came after seeing all the material filmed and thinking that it would be great to create a bigger project about Chile, he told the Cooperativa radio station.

During rainy winter nights, the people of Chiloé, off the coast of Los Lagos Region, carry out an old tradition each year. They sit around a fireplace and begin to tell children or foreign visitors about the different beliefs that make up the local mythology which characterizes this magic island.

The lakes and rivers, abundant forests and a temperate rainy climate marked by fog and strong winds, endow this southern island with very special conditions that stimulate its inhabitants into keeping the traditional beliefs alive.
