Lahuen Ñadi Park is home to some of the oldest trees in the world. Its forest is one of the few places in the Chilean Central Valley where mature Alerce stands are preserved, some of them reaching ages of 1800 years. With such beautiful surroundings, this is an exceptional spot to hike.
On arrival, we enjoy a scenic 1-hour walk, appreciating nature and the flora of the area, such as the Alerce, Coigüe, and Canelo, among other species of trees belonging to the temperate rainforests. During our walk we also see and hear birds, like the Chucao, Huet-Huet, Diucón , Traile and others.
After Lahuen Ñadi Park, we head for Puerto Montt to visit several of its markets and experience local life. Walking through the markets, observe the typical daily lives of the people. Take time for coffee and conversation with some. These are the people usually overlooked by conventional guidebooks. Angelmó is the best known of Puerto Montt’s markets. In this market, enjoy a delicious meal called Curanto with a Té Frío (white wine) in the Cocinerias (small local restaurant). We start walking back through the Angelmo Craft Fair, where you can buy some souvenirs or stop outside to take photos of the inland sea of Puerto Montt.
Visit the center of the city, its square and Cathedral.
Return to your hotel or pier.
* Optional: No lunch in Angelmo (Puerto Montt) and go to visit Puerto Varas.
Note: It is essential that you wear layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion, windbreaker, sunglasses, hat, and sun protector.
